A Memorable Halloween: Heritage of Hudson's 2nd Annual Trunk-or-Treat

Between sunny days in the 70’s and snow, Octobers in Ohio can be very unpredictable. Fortunately for Heritage of Hudson, the weather cooperated for our second annual Trunk-or-Treat!

Due to the wind, we moved the “trunks” inside and decorated our 100 hall instead. Resident Miss Pam’s wonderfully creative family stunned everyone with an intricate Encanto display. Elisa, our Activity Assistant, and her granddaughter were in charge of the Creepy Monster section and recruited several residents to help them pass out candy. Director of Nursing, Kaley, and several of our residents were in the Spooky Corner with lots of orange twinkle lights and the witch’s candy cauldron. Our Activity Assistant, Amy, and her family decorated the last area as the classic Halloween movie Hocus Pocus.



The candy stations were very popular, but everyone’s favorite part of the Trunk-or-Treat was the petting zoo! Neveah and Libby, from activities, helped bring residents outside to see all of the wonderful animals from the Mobile Barn Yard Petting Zoo. Martha and Carolyn particularly enjoyed the calf, even asking if we could keep it! The turkey regularly made his presence known with loud turkey calls that could even be heard inside the building. Carol D. was fond of the many rabbits that were huddled in the hay.



Despite being delayed a week due to rain, we had a wonderful turnout with lots of happy residents and smiling children! Our Regional Marketer, Rebecca, dressed as a Jack-o-Lantern and was the friendliest greeter as folks came for the event. It was wonderful to see so many of our families enjoying the day together. We also had several families who live in the community that came for the first time. Several staff members also brought their families to show off their amazing costumes and collect candy.

Events like this would not be possible without the support of a good team. Special thanks go out to the Heritage of Hudson Managers (Karen, Kaley, Kirsten, and Emily) and our Activity Department for helping to make this event a success!
