Groovin’ Through the Golden Years: The Heritage Singers Summer Show
June 26, 2025
Everything was feelin’ groovy as the Heritage Singers performed their summer program, “Songs of the ’60s!” The twelve-member ensemble met weekly for five months to rehearse and perform twelve songs including “If I Had a Hammer,” “Do Wah Diddy Diddy,” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” The choir also learned how to play kazoos for this show and used them during Nat King Cole’s “L-O-V-E!”
The Singer’s summer program always coincides with The Longest Day, an awareness campaign organized by the Alzheimer’s Association against the darkness of Alzheimer’s Disease. This cause is near and dear to our hearts, and we love being able to use our talents to participate. There also was a raffle and the grand prize was four tickets to a Rubber Ducks game!
After the performance, there was a cake reception to celebrate and spend time with friends and family who came to the performance. It was so heart-warming to see everyone that came out to watch! The Heritage Singers take the summer off and will resume rehearsals in September to get ready for a Christmas program. A special “thank you” goes out to Rebecca M, regional marketer, for making a raffle basket and getting the cake!
At Heritage of Hudson, moments like these remind us that life doesn’t end in long-term care—it simply takes on new meaning. Through music, creativity, laughter, and connection, we provide opportunities for our residents to live fully, joyfully, and with purpose. From rehearsals to raffles and cake with family, every event is a celebration of the vibrant lives our residents continue to lead. At the heart of it all is our belief that every day holds potential, and we’re honored to walk alongside our residents in making the most of each and every one.
