Cardio Drumming at Heritage of Hudson
July 27, 2023
The Activity Department at Heritage of Hudson puts a lot of thought and time into creating a purposeful activity program. They are very attentive to meeting our residents' needs physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Activities give residents a sense of purpose, independence, and normality as they transition into a long-term care setting.
One of the activities that our Activity Department has implemented into their programming is Cardio Drumming, and it is one of our residents' favorite regular activities! Drumming is a great form of exercise because it raises your heart rate, and playing the drums activates both hemispheres of the brain at the same time. Other benefits include mood-boosting, promotes relaxation, chronic pain alleviation, and improves cognitive functions such as attention, short-term memory, and ability to follow cues.

Each class has a different theme and uses a new playlist. Some of our themes have been On the Beach, Birds, Music Music Music, and Broadway. Cardio Drumming can be adapted for all abilities so everyone can participate! Similar classes are offered through programs like Drums Alive, PoundFit, or Tyrannosaurus Flex in Stow. We always encourage our residents to try a class if they've never done it before, and they usually come back for the next one!
Our Activities Department is known to stand out for its creativity and enrichment through outings, events, and more. See what else Heritage of Hudson offers residents by clicking the button below.
