Heritage of Hudson Commemorates The Longest Day
June 25, 2024
On June 21st, the Summer Solstice, also known as The Longest Day, the Alzheimer's Association encourages people to fight against the darkness of Alzheimer's Disease by engaging in meaningful activities to raise awareness. At Heritage of Hudson, we embrace this day with a special celebration featuring a performance by our beloved Heritage Singers choir, followed by a cake and punch reception and a raffle of beautifully hand-painted flower pots by our talented residents.
The Heritage Singers choir is a cherished "resident" ensemble that performs twice a year: during the Christmas holidays and on the Longest Day of the year, June 21st. Emily Campbell, the Activities Director at Hudson, is a gifted musician who accompanies the choir on the facility's beautiful baby grand piano. Emily's musical talents extend beyond our walls, as she is also part of a bassoon ensemble, and this year, one of her talented friends joined her to enhance our Longest Day celebration.
The choir's performances are a highlight for many, drawing family members, staff, and our resident community to enjoy their carefully selected songs, which resonate with the time of year. The joy they bring is palpable, and their dedication to raising awareness for Alzheimer's Disease through music is truly inspiring.
Heritage of Hudson's participation in the Longest Day is not just about celebrating the summer solstice and its prolonged daylight. It is a heartfelt effort to shed light on the darkness of Alzheimer's Disease, aligning with the mission of the Alzheimer's Association to bring awareness and hope. The day's events, including the flower pot raffle and cake reception, contribute to this cause, raising funds to support the Association's vital work.
The Heritage Singers choir, under Emily's passionate direction, provides not only entertainment and joy but also makes a significant contribution to a worthy cause. Their efforts, along with the support of those who join us and participate, help to make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer's Disease.
A heartfelt thank you to Emily, the choir members, and everyone who joined and supported this meaningful event. Your presence and participation bring us closer to a world without Alzheimer's.
