Prom Night Reimagined: Heritage of Hudson’s Senior Prom
July 3, 2024
Seniors in high school spend all year looking forward to their senior proms. The seniors at Heritage of Hudson spent all of June looking forward to their own prom celebration!
The ladies gathered together to get their hair, nails, and makeup done before the event. Doris prefers a more natural look for her makeup, and for the special occasion, she wanted bright red nails. Judy prefers bright eye shadows and bold lipstick. The activity team acted as stylists for the afternoon with help from Kirsten, our Admissions Director.
After everyone finished getting beautiful, everyone headed to the activity room which had been decorated like a 1950s sock hop. Refreshments were served and everyone really enjoyed the festive sugar cookies. Before the dancing started, we had to select the Prom Queen and King. All of the attendees’ names were entered into the drawing with the lucky winners, Lilla and Brad! After getting their picture taken, they got everyone moving to the dance floor.
Dancing is one of our favorite activities! We got things started with two easy group dances, the “Y-M-C-A” and “The Hokey Pokey.” Everyone took turns showing off their best moves during “The Stroll.” Marie and Leota boogied down to “Shout!” a song that reminded many residents of being at a wedding reception. To close out the afternoon, Larry led us in singing along to “Sweet Caroline.” Before leaving, everyone took turns taking hilarious pictures with the photo booth and props.
Prom is such an important event in a high school student’s life and we had fun recreating our own version. Dancing is also such a fun form of exercise! This will continue to be an annual event that we look forward to every year.
