Hudson Senior Prom
June 8, 2022
When you think of senior prom, most people probably don’t picture a group of older adults dancing and having cupcakes, but that’s exactly what Heritage of Hudson did on Friday, June 3rd! Spring is an exciting time for seniors in high school; between graduation, prom, and parties, it's a busy and monumental time in a young person’s life. Many of our residents recalled attending their own senior proms and fondly remembered dancing the night away with their dates.
Before heading to the party, our ladies got the chance to get their make-up done and pick out jewelry to wear. Our Activity Assistants, Kirsten and Ashley, carefully applied eyeshadow, blush, lipstick, and perfume on every lady who wanted it. Using a hand mirror, the ladies admired how beautiful they looked and complimented each other. There were also bow ties for the gentlemen!
After getting gussied up, everyone walked through brightly-colored streamers into the Activity Room, which was decorated like a sock hop. As music from the ’50s played, party-goers snacked on cupcakes, cookies, and party punch. Rainbow Sherbert and blue Hawaiian Punch combined to form a chartreuse concoction, which tasted delicious despite the odd color! Then it was time for dancing, and everyone formed a circle for The Hokey Pokey, recorded by Ray Anthony. The YMCA and the Chicken Dance kept the mood light and full of energy.
To wrap up the party, residents sang some of their favorite songs with the karaoke machine. It was a very eventful afternoon full of reminiscing about proms from the past and making new memories with friends. Everyone at Heritage of Hudson is looking forward to making this a yearly event!
